The big, blue, wild and groovy creature called YoJo visited Hampden on March 27 and performed motivational and educational comedy shows for our students. Third, fourth, and fifth grade students participated in the "ACE YOUR PSSA" assembly in which YoJo participated in a series of PSSA game show challenges. These challenges demonstrated the PSSA experience with fun subject topics such as sports, music, pizza, etc. In the end, YoJo and the students learned the skills and gained the confidence to completely ace the PSSA! Kindergarten, first, and second grades participated in a "Reading Motivation" show. YoJo initially had a bad attitude about but learns the hard way about the importance of reading. The show ended with a short story from “The Prince and the Princess”, in which YoJo acted out the part of the prince, and an audience member played the role of the princess. The enjoyment of the experience left YoJo with an enthusiastic spirit to read, and he’s last seen running off to the library.
