Meet the Principal
Ms. Owen earned her Bachelors of Science in Childhood Education from Penn State Harrisburg and her Masters in Education from Millersville University. She has taught PreK Counts for two years, taught fifth grade for four years, was an instructional coach for three years, and was a middle school principal and an elementary principal at another district. Prior to a career in education, Ms. Owen worked at the State Senate for thirteen years and also held a position as a government affairs and community investment specialist for a private company. With this vast background, she brings an array of experiences to tap into for her current role as Hampden Elementary's principal.
She values building relationships with students, staff, and families as a key factor for a strong building climate. While teaching, Ms. Owen built a strong background in blended learning, STEAM education, 4 C learning (creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, communication), among other best practices. She has a deep passion for education and continues to learn and grow in her career.
In her free time, Ms. Owen enjoys spending quality time with her children. She loves the Philadelphia Eagles, attempting to play golf, reading, and time at the beach.
