Hampden Elementary students collected over 1,000 pounds of Halloween candy which will be donated to soliders overseas.

This year marked the 10th anniversary of Hampden Elementary School's Halloween Candy Drive, and it was a tremendous success, thanks to the generosity of our students, families, and community! Over 1,000 pounds of candy were collected and donated to organizations like Operation Gratitude and For the Love of a Veteran, ensuring that our brave service members overseas received a sweet treat.

In addition, they partnered with Verber Family Dentistry and Mechanicsburg Family Dentistry, who helped them raise funds by offering $1 per pound of candy. These funds will go towards Hampden's Thanksgiving food baskets and supporting families in need within our school community.

A special highlight of this year’s drive was the visit from the National Guard (Carlisle Barracks), who brought military vehicles to Hampden for students to explore and collect candy to send to soldiers in Africa. Our local heroes such as first responders, police officers, and firefighters also received some candy, too!
